Farm, Garden & Business Centres in Kent & Staffordshire
William & Louise Friend run a small, ‘Friendly’, family run business at two combined farm, plant nursery and business centre sites.
East Northdown Nursery & Business Centre are located on the Kent coast, near Margate & Mucklestone Nurseries & Business centre is located in the conservation village of Mucklestone on the borders of Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire.
Both Nurseries offer visitors the chance to browse around our gardens and grounds with our two exceptional complimentary botanical collections of plants.
Each area has a very different climate, we propagate at both from plants that have been proven to do well and be hardy.
We are therefore able to offer a uniquely comprehensive range of plants for growing conditions across the U.K. from our two sites, to nursery visitors or by mail order.
East Northdown:
At our East Northdown Nursery, we specialise in plants for ‘Mediteranean’ conditions that cope with the problems of growing in chalky, coastal conditions. We are always happy to give advice and help select plants for a particular situation.
The adjoining East Northdown Business Centre has provided premises for local small businesses, community groups, charities of all types, serving the local community, for the past 25 years, in the tranquil garden and farmyard setting, in the Northdown Conservation area.
Mucklestone:
Mucklestone Nurseries in Staffordshire specialises in Woodland and Meadow plants. i.e. a complimentary range of those trees, shrubs and perennials better suited to the cooler, wetter, more acidic conditions prevalent in the north and west of Britain.
As well as providing premises for a range of rural enterprises-on the farm, nursery and woodlands , Mucklestone Business Centre, also provides premises for an increasing number local small businesses. A further range of barns in a wonderful setting of rolling species rich parkland are being upgraded to individuals requirements as required, – can we help you?
Our Roots:
William’s roots extend far into the past at both farms, the ‘Friends, Tomlins, Sacketts and Taddys’ at East Northdown, and William’s maternal family, the Hinchliffe, Crewe, and Offley families, in Mucklestone.
For details of local history see our East Northdown & Mucklestone Historical Blogs, or contact us if we can help you trace your roots.
Each combined nursery, farm and business centre, continues to serves as a hub of local community life, offering affordable premises and facilities for scores of local businesses, groups and charities, most importantly retaining the original farm, garden and parkland character of each site.
